Your data is safe with the Vulnerability Registration Service. We protect your information, respect your choices, and never share anything without your consent.

Built on trust, guided by transparency

The Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) exists to protect people in vulnerable circumstances — and that starts with protecting your data.

We believe every individual has the right to control what’s shared, who sees it, and why.

Our system is designed to ensure:

  • You remain in full control of your information.

  • Data is shared only when you give explicit consent.

  • All storage and transfers meet UK GDPR standards.

  • You can change or delete your information at any time.

How and why we share personal data

The accuracy and security of the information held by the Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) is extremely important to us. Personal data is only shared where there is a lawful basis to do so under data protection legislation. These lawful bases include the following:

Consent – Individuals can register themselves with the VRS through our Consumer Portal. By doing so, they provide their consent for their information to be shared for the purposes of the service. Individuals can update or delete their information at any time through the Portal.

Legal authority to act on someone’s behalf – Data may be shared where another individual or organisation has the legal authority to act on someone’s behalf, for example where a Power of Attorney, Court of Protection order, or other legal authority is in place.

Consent provided via an organisation – An organisation may share data with the VRS where it has obtained the individual’s consent to do so on their behalf.

Your Rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access your information

  • Correct inaccuracies

  • Restrict or remove your data

  • Withdraw consent at any time

We make it simple to exercise these rights. Just contact our team and we’ll help you update, pause, or delete your record safely.

How to Withdraw Consent

If you decide you no longer want your data to be shared or visible to organisations, you can withdraw consent instantly.
Once withdrawn, your record will be hidden from all VRS partners until you choose to reactivate it.

We’ll confirm in writing once your request has been completed.

Our Commitment to Transparency

We will always tell you how your information is used.

VRS does not sell, trade, or use personal data for marketing.

Your record is only ever used to help trusted organisations recognise and support you appropriately.

If we make any changes to how your data is processed, we’ll update our privacy notice and contact you directly.

If You Have Concerns

If you have any concerns about how your data is being handled, please contact us directly.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Your information belongs to you.
Register safely with the Vulnerability Registration Service, knowing your data is handled with care, compliance, and complete transparency.

You’re in control - always.
