You shouldn’t have to keep explaining your situation.

The Vulnerability Registration Service (VRS) helps you tell trusted organisations about your circumstances - safely, securely, and just once.

What is the Vulnerability Registration Service?

VRS works with service providers from many sectors including banking, finance, insurance, utilities, gaming and government.  Our aim is to give you a voice to state your circumstances once, express your needs and easily access relevant support.

We want to help you:

  • Avoid repetitive and difficult conversations

  • Get your circumstances and acknowledged and taken into account

  • Enable companies to tailor your customer experience and provide you with the right products and services

Identify

When you register through our customer portal, it will allow you to select options that reflect your situation.  These may be financial, health-related, life events or accessibility challenges or a mixture of some or all of these.  You may be a victim of fraud or coercion, struggling with addiction, at risk of homelessness or an unpaid carer.

We do this through a flagging system which you can select from and manage through the portal.

Support

We work with a range of partners to lead you to appropriate help through our Consumer Portal.  Our partners can:

  • Identify where to go to find help for your circumstances

  • Help you assess eligibility for benefits or social tariffs

  • Provide debt advice

  • Assist with income and expenditure

  • Provide support for unpaid carers

  • Help you to register on the Priority Service Register with your water or energy provider

Avoid future indebtedness

Sometimes we may need to tell companies that we do not wish to be extended further finance.  Our Consumer Portal allows you tell lenders that you would prefer not to be granted additional credit.

Registering somebody else

Very often, the most vulnerable are unable to act for themselves but they need to be safeguarding.  Where you have the authority, you will be able to register a loved one or somebody you care for.

Privacy & Control

You remain in control of your information at all times.
Your details are shared only with your permission, and only with organisations registered with VRS.
You can update or remove your registration whenever you wish.

Needs or expected outcomes

Once you have identified your circumstances, you can select how you would like companies to support you.  You can help determine how company’s communicate with you, what additional help you need and give context to your situation.
